Aluminium Door Systems - Frequently Asked Questions

Discover TECHNAL aluminium door systems for UK and Ireland projects, offering design flexibility, performance and low embodied carbon with Hydro CIRCAL®.

  • SOLEAL Next is TECHNAL’s most versatile aluminium door platform, offering an extensive range of design options, configurations and threshold solutions. It is popular with architects because it provides:

    • Multiple aesthetic profiles to complement facade rhythm
    • Flexible opening types including single, double, pivot and finger-protection doors
    • Excellent thermal performance suitable for Part L requirements
    • Sleek sightlines to achieve refined architectural compositions

SOLEAL Next is broadly used in education campuses, residential developments, healthcare facilities, offices, civic buildings and complex refurbishments where consistent facade integration and long-term durability are essential.

  • TITANE Next is designed as a heavy-duty aluminium commercial door and storefront system, ideal for high-traffic environments such as retail, transport hubs and public buildings. It offers robust construction, durable hardware and secure configurations suited to demanding UK and Ireland commercial applications.

  • Yes. AMBIAL is a high-performance folding door system designed for large openings, making it ideal for hospitality, premium residential, mixed-use and leisure developments. Its smooth operation and flush threshold options suit projects seeking a strong connection between interior and exterior spaces.

  • All three systems - SOLEAL Next, TITANE Next and AMBIAL - are engineered to support compliance with relevant regulations, including thermal performance (Part L), acoustic requirements, and acccessibility guidance (Part M). Exact performance depends on configuration and glazing, so project teams should review each product datasheet.

  • Door systems across the TECHNAL product ranges can be specified to achieve excellent thermal performance, using advanced thermal breaks, optimised gaskets and high-performance glazing. SOLEAL Next and AMBIAL offer strong thermal efficiency for residential and commercial projects, while TITANE Next provides reliable performance for high-use commercial entrances.

  • Yes. All TECHNAL product ranges - including SOLEAL Next, TITANE Next and AMBIAL - are all manufactured with Hydro CIRCAL® 75R as standard, aluminium made with at least 75% recycled post-consumer scrap. This lowers emboded carbon by 80% when compared with the European average for primary aluminium production.

For projects with more stringent sustainability goals, Hydro CIRCAL® 100R is available on request. Made with 100% recycled end-of-life scrap, this alloy has just 0.5kg CO2e per kg of aluminium.

Both of these alloys support developers and design teams working towards net-zero and reduced embodied carbon goals.

  • Yes. All three ranges can be specified for coastal, high-wind and exposed areas commonly found in the British Isles. Systems can be combined with marine-grade finishes and high-weather-rated configurations to maintain long-term durability in challenging environments.

  • SOLEAL Next, TITANE Next and AMBIAL offer configurations that support inclusive access, including low-threshold and level-access solutions designed to help meet Part M and equivalent Irish standards. Final compliance depends on configuration, hardware and site detailing.

  • Yes. These ranges are designed for seamless integration with TECHNAL curtain wall, window and sliding systems, ensuring consistent sightlines, simplified interface detailing and coordinated architectural expression across the envelope.

  • TITANE Next is the most suitable system for high-traffic commercial entrances, thanks to its robust construction, heavy-duty fittings and tested durability. SOLEAL Next can also support medium-traffic applications, depending on configuration.

  • Yes. SOLEAL Next doors are particularly well suited to refurbishment and retrofit schemes, offering 65 and 75mm profiles and adaptable configurations. AMBIAL is often used to upgrade hospitality or residential spaces, while TITANE Next offers a practical option for revitalising commercial entrances.

  • All three systems offer a wide range of powder-coated and anodised finishes, including dual-colour options. This enables architects to align entrances and facades with project aesthetics, planning requirements and client branding.

  • Each system can be specified with enhanced security, including multi-point locking and compatible hardware. TITANE Next is particularly suited to secure commercial entrances, while SOLEAL Next and AMBIAL support secure residential and mixed-use applications. Consult the product documentation for current test evidence.

    • Choose SOLEAL Next doors for versatility across most building types
    • Choose TITANE Next doors for high-traffic commercial entrances and storefronts
    • Choose AMBIAL doors for wide-span folding solutions and indoor-outdoor transitions.

TECHNAL’s specification team can provide guidance based on building type, performance targets and project requirements.
