TECHNAL's Sustainability Commitment

We approach sustainability holistically, so we go beyond products to reduce the upfront and embodied emissions of the building’s carbon footprint.

  • 50% Reduction in CO2 Emissions Globally

From materials to packaging, and through responsible resource management, our ambition is to half our carbon footprint between 2018 and 2025.

  • Reducing Packaging and Transport Emissions by 50%

By using fewer materials and optimising our packaging, we've reduced its carbon footprint by a factor of 8. Improved truck technology, cleaner fuels, and smarter route planning have also made our deliveries more efficient - cutting emissions and lowering costs.

  • Saving Energy by 15%

We monitored energy consumption at every stage of production. We've invested in new technologies for extrusion and powder coating, and in locations with a less sustainable national energy mix, we've switched to green electricity on-site.

we carefully select our suppliers

We Carefully Select our Suppliers

Across our value chain, we collaborate with suppliers who share our commitment to responsible practices - upholding high standards for working conditions and avoiding materials that contain hazardous substances.

We strictly prohibit modern slavery, forced labour, and child labour. We uphold the rights to freedom of association and collective bargaining, ensure protection from discrimination and harassment, and promote decent working conditions, privacy, health, and safety.

To support this, we regularly conduct human rights impact assessments and align our business practices with social responsibility goals. Our supply chain is held to the same standards. That's why we've held Ecovadis certification for several years.

All of our sites are also certified to the ASI Performance Standards and have achieved Cradle to Cradle Certified Gold level for Social Fairness. To ensure shared accountability, we require our partners to sign and adhere to our Code of Conduct.

changing the way we work

Changing the Way we Work

We can't make meaningful progress on sustainability as a company without also addressing individual behaviours. That's why we've rolled out dedicated training sessions and webinars to raise awareness and drive everyday action.

We're rethinking how we work and reducing commuting and business travel by promoting home offices and digital collaboration. And we're focusing on the details that matter - optimising lighting, reducing unnecessary printing, providing clear recycling systems, and phasing out single-use plastics. These small consistent changes across our teams help to build a culture of responsibility that supports our larger environmental goals.

the hydro way

The Hydro Way

We are a brand of Hydro Group. The Hydro Way is our way of doing what we do; it expresses who we are and aspire to be. It has been forged and shaped through more than 100 years of continually finding new and better ways of working. And this is how we will continue to develop innovative products and solutions that benefit our customers and society, now and in the future. We are constantly evolving. But the essence of everything we do remains the same, even though the way we express it may change: The Hydro Way, our purpose and our core values.

Working with our Customers

We take responsibility for driving positive change in the market and actively involve our customers in our sustainability journey. By offering low-carbon, recycled aluminium with one of the lowest carbon footprints globally, we help them to make more sustainable choices.

To recognise their commitment to using environmentally responsible products, we present our fabricators with Hydro CIRCAL awards - highlighting their role in reducing CO² emissions and contributing to the development of more sustainable cities.
