aluminium that performs beyond aesthetics

Aluminium that Performs Beyond Aesthetics

Designing for tomorrow means knowing what's behind the material. At TECHNAL, we create aluminium systems with industry-leading carbon transparency, certified traceability, and circular thinking built in. From curtain walling to sliding doors, every product supports your sustainability targets - without compromising performance or beauty.

Low Carbon Aluminium, Proven by Numbers

Hydro CIRCAL® is more than just aluminium. It's a statement of intent - towards net zero, circular construction, and fully traceable supply chains.

At the core of this innovation are two alloys:

Hydro CIRCAL® 75R This premium grade aluminium contains a minimum of 75% recycled post-consumer scrap - meaning aluminium that has already completed its life in buildings. It's not production waste. It's true circularity.

  • Carbon footprint: 1.9kg CO²e/kg aluminium

  • Fully certified by DNV-GL for content and emissions

  • Ideal for BREEAM, LEED and WELL certification targets

Hydro CIRCAL® 75R gives you a high-quality, durable solution at a fraction of the environmental cost. When compared with the European average for primary aluminium production, the carbon footprint is around 85% lower. It's already available as standard across all the TECHNAL UK product range.

Hydro CIRCAL® 100R The next step forward.

Hydro CIRCAL® 100R is made with 100% recycled post-consumer aluminium, offering the lowest embodied carbon available in the market for aluminium profiles.

  • Carbon footprint: 0.5kg CO²e/kg aluminium

  • Only available for selected projects where ultra-low carbon impact is a non-negotiable

  • Designed for projects that are pushing the boundaries of sustainable design

Hydro CIRCAL® 100R is currently in the early adoption phase, making it a powerful specification choice for zero-carbon projects.

Both Hydro CIRCAL® alloys support transparent carbon reporting, and can be used to contribute to embodied carbon assessments, life cycle analysis, and circularity targets on major frameworks.

  • Post-Consumer Recycling First

We prioritise aluminium that has been used and recovered from real-world applications, not just offcuts from production. Through Hydro CIRCAL®, we give end-of-life scrap a second, third, and even fourth life without degrading quality.

  • Design for Disassembly

Our systems are engineered to be easily dismantled, sorted and recycled at the end of their service life. Components can be separated without destructive methods, ensuring material purity and maximising reuse potential.

  • Verified Circularity

Hydro CIRCAL® is independently verified by DNV-GL for post-consumer content and carbon emissions. Our Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are public and verified, giving you full traceability and transparency. Project-specific EPD's can also be generated through our software, so you know the exact impact your choices make.

Choosing TECHNAL isn't just about meeting today's standards.

It's about designing a future where resources never go to waste.

How TECHNAL supports Sustainabilty Consultants

  • TECHNAL systems are manufactured using Hydro CIRCAL® 75R as standard, an alloy made with a minimum of 75% recycled post‑consumer scrap—material recovered from real buildings, not factory waste. This results in a carbon footprint of 1.9kg CO₂e/kg, around 80% lower than the European average for primary aluminium.

For projects where environmental impact is of even more importance, Hydro CIRCAL 100R is available. This alloy contains 100% recycled end-of-life aluminium scrap and contains just 0.5kg CO2e per kg of aluminium.

  • Hydro CIRCAL® 100R is made with 100% post‑consumer recycled aluminium, delivering an ultra‑low embodied carbon footprint of 0.5kg CO₂e/kg aluminium—the lowest available in the market. It is ideal for zero‑carbon buildings, pilot frameworks and projects where minimal environmental impact is a non‑negotiable requirement.

  • All Hydro CIRCAL® alloys are independently verified by DNV‑GL for both recycled content and carbon emissions. TECHNAL also provides public, third‑party verified EPDs, with project‑specific EPDs available via TechDesign software - helping consultants calculate accurate embodied carbon values.

  • Yes. Hydro CIRCAL® 75R and 100R support robust documentation for embodied carbon credits, life‑cycle assessments and transparency indicators. These alloys are specifically suited to BREEAM, LEED and WELL frameworks due to their high recycled content, low CO₂ footprint and verified supply‑chain traceability.

  • TECHNAL prioritises aluminium recovered from real‑world applications - windows, doors and facades at end‑of‑life—ensuring genuine circularity rather than recycling offcuts. This keeps valuable aluminium in the construction loop, preserves material quality, and prevents downcycling.

  • Products are engineered so components can be easily dismantled, sorted and recycled without destructive methods. This maximises material purity for reuse and supports circular construction principles, making TECHNAL systems compatible with long‑term sustainability strategies.

  • TECHNAL systems and supply chains hold multiple certifications, including:

    • DNV‑GL verification of recycled content and emissions
    • Cradle to Cradle certification for selected systems
    • ASI (Aluminium Stewardship Initiative) certification across extrusion plants
    • Third‑party verified EPDs for transparency and ESG reporting

These ensure credible, traceable sustainability performance.

  • Hydro CIRCAL® 75R alloys significantly reduce embodied carbon - around 80% compared with European averages for primary aluminium. TECHNAL’s circularity model also keeps aluminium within the industry through closed‑loop recovery, dismantling, sorting, remelting and recasting into new billets, preserving material value across multiple lifecycles.

  • Consultants can use TECHNAL’s EPDs, carbon footprint data, recycled content declarations and traceability documentation for:

    • Life Cycle Analysis (LCA)
    • Embodied carbon benchmarking
    • ESG and CSRD reporting
    • Specification for circular economy frameworks

Hydro CIRCAL® alloys offer clear, audit‑ready datasets to support compliance and performance modelling.

  • TECHNAL actively partners with sustainability consultants through panels, technical reviews, events and collaborative insight programmes. Consultants can help shape next‑generation low‑carbon systems, promote circularity, and integrate advanced environmental strategies at specification stage—creating buildings aligned with net‑zero goals.
