TECHNAL's SOLEAL Next 75 Door has achieved LPS 1175 Issue 8, Class B3 (Security Rating SR2) certification and is now officially listed in LPCB's RedBook Live. This achievement sets a new standard for aluminium glazed doors in the UK, where most comparable solutions are traditionally made of steel.

With its latest certification, SOLEAL Next 75 provides fabricators with a fully tested solution that combines architectural design quality with rigorous resistance to intrusion. The system offers a minimum three-minute delay against forced entry using Category B tools, making it ideal for high-security applications including communal entrances, public buildings, commercial assets and other sensitive environments.

Understanding LPS 1175

Loss Prevention Standard 1175 is one of the most demanding physical security standards in the industry. Developed by the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) - part of the Building Research Establishment (BRE) - it verifies the resistance of security products such as windows, doors, shutters, fencing and access solutions.

The LPS 1175 certification measures how long a product can delay an intruder based on specific attack tools and time classifications. Each product undergoes controlled testing to determine its resistance levels. On the first attempt at testing, the majority of products fail due to the high standards set.

The standard classifies products using a letter / number format:

• Letter (A-H): Defines the category of tools used in testing

• Number (1-20): Indicates the number of minutes the product must resist attack

A B3 rating confirms that SOLEAL Next 75 withstands a sustained attack using Category B tools for three minutes, delivering a clear, measurable level of protection.

While other frameworks such as Security Technical Specification (STS) 202 also address burglary resistance, they typically focus on individual components - locks, glazing and beads, for example - rather than the performance of a complete system.

LPS 1175 evaluates the entire doorset as a unified assembly, offering a more robust and holistic assessment of real-world security. This is why LPS 1175 is widely views as the more stringent and more reliable benchmark for high-security environments.
