That's why we're proud to be working with Material Index to support the recovery and recirculation of aluminium from buildings at the end of their life.

The partnership marks another important step in our commitment to circular construction, helping to ensure that valuable aluminium remains in use for as long as possible and can be transformed into new, high-performance building products when direct reuse is no longer viable.

Keeping aluminium in the loop

Aluminium is one of the few construction materials that can be recycled repeatedly without any loss of quality. However, ensuring that building products are recovered, identified and returned to the supply chain without downgrading remains a significant challenge across the construction industry.

By partnering with Material Index, we're helping to improve the visibility and recovery of aluminium from refurbishment and demolition projects, making it easier for materials to be redirected back into the circular economy rather than being lost from the value chain.

Recovered aluminium can then contribute to the production of Hydro CIRCAL®, Hydro's low-carbon aluminium made with a minimum of 75% recycled end-of-life aluminium, supporting a more sustainable approach to material sourcing and manufacturing.

Supporting lower-carbon buildings
