TECHNAL UK & Ireland Achieves Excellent Responsible Sourcing Rating for Another Year

Continued recognition reflects TECHNAL UK & Ireland's commitment to responsible sourcing, supply chain transparency, lower-carbon aluminium and environmental responsibility across the built environment.

TECHNAL UK and Ireland has once again achieved an Excellent Responsible Sourcing Rating, continuing our track record for responsible procurement, supply chain management and environmental responsibility.

The latest rating builds on TECHNAL's previous Excellent rating and reflects the systems, processes and partnerships that support our approach to sourcing and supplying aluminium building systems for the UK and Ireland construction sector.

For architects, contractors, developers and sustainability professionals, responsible sourcing in construction is increasingly connected to questions around material provenance, embodied carbon, environmental performance, traceability and supply chain accountability. These considerations influence decisions from early-stage specification through to procurement and project delivery.

For TECHNAL, responsible sourcing is therefore not a standalone sustainability initiative. It forms part of a wider approach to material selection, environmental transparency, circularity and the design of aluminium windows, doors and façades.

What does Responsible Sourcing mean for TECHNAL?

Responsible sourcing considers more than the performance of the finished building product. It looks at where materials come from, how they are produced, the environmental and social considerations associated with the supply chain, and how materials can be recovered and recycled at the end of their useful life.

Our approach is across three areas: ethical sourcing, including human rights, working conditions and fair business practices; environmental responsibility, including carbon reduction, circularity and biodiversity; and social responsibility, including diversity, inclusion and local communities.

Our latest Excellent rating provides further recognition of our ongoing approach to responsible procurement and supply chain management.

Low-carbon recycled aluminium and responsible material sourcing

Material selection is central to our approach at TECHNAL. We use Hydro CIRCAL® 75R as standard, made with at least 75% post-consumer recycled aluminium and with a carbon footprint of 1.9 kg CO₂e per kg of aluminium. For projects seeking to go further, Hydro CIRCAL® 100R is made from 100% post-consumer recycled aluminium and has a carbon footprint below 0.5 kg CO₂e per kg. Together, these materials support our wider commitment to responsible sourcing, lower embodied carbon and keeping aluminium in circulation.

Supporting transparency with environmental data

For us, responsible sourcing also means giving specifiers clear, credible information about the materials they choose. We provide Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), recycled-content information and material traceability to support informed specification and help project teams assess embodied carbon, whole-life carbon and circularity alongside technical performance.
