A new space for better conversations: Welcome to TECHNAL's Engagement Space

A new desination for architects, fabricators and construction professionals to connect, learn and explore the future of sustainable building design.

Some of the best conversations we have at TECHNAL don't happen in meeting rooms. They happen around samples spread across a table, during a quick catch-up over coffee, or when a project team gets together to solve a challenge.

That's exactly what inspired our new Engagement Space at Tewkesbury.

It's a place where architects, fabricators, contractors, developers and consultants can meet with our teams, explore ideas, share knowledge and spend time looking at the things that matter most to their projects.

Of course, you'll find our products there, but that's only part of our story.

We've created a space that's designed around people and conversations. Somewhere practical, welcoming and flexible enough to support everything from technical training and CPDs to project meetings and customer events.

Built around Real Conversations

When we started planning the space, we weren't looking to create another showroom.

We wanted somewhere that felt useful. A place that visitors could explore products, discuss project requirements, learn about sustainability and circularity, and connect with the people behind the TECHNAL brand.

The project was led by UK & Ireland Communications Manager Donna Manoochehri who managed the development from the first ideas right through to completion.

"We kept asking ourselves a simple question: what do we want people to leave with after spending time with us?" says Donna.

"Product Knowledge was part of it, but we wanted to go beyond that. We wanted visitors to understand who we are, what we're working towards and how we can support them on their projects."

"That's why we've created different areas within the space. There are places to explore products and materials, learn more about sustainability and circularity, try our digital tools and most importantly, sit down and have a good conversation."

We didn't want people to visit and feel like they'd been shown a product range. We wanted them to leave with a better understanding of who we are, what we're working towards and how we can help them on their projects.

"The goal was never to walk people around displays. It was to create a space where people feel comfortable asking questions, exchanging ideas and talking through challenges together."

More than a product display

Visitors can get hands-on with TECHNAL's aluminium systems, explore finishes and hardware options and compare product variations and accessories in a practical setting.

One of the most popular features of the space is the product display wall and cabinets, where visitors can view corner samples and full-size pull-out product samples from some of TECHNAL's core systems. These larger formats make it easier to understand profile design, sightlines, detailing and build quality, helping specifiers and project teams visualise how systems will look and perform in a completed building.

Alongside the system displays, visitors can explore a wide range of hardware options, handle samples and compare colours and finishes side by side and in different light. It's an opportunity to move beyond drawings and datasheets and experience the products at scale that feels much closer to a real project environment.

"We wanted people to be able to interact with the products rather than just looking at them." says Donna. "Being able to open a pull-out sample, examine a corner detail or compare different finishes helps to bring technical discussions to life and often sparks conversations that wouldn't happen around a screen."

Alongside the product displays, there are dedicated areas that showcase some of the wider themes shaping the industry today. Interactive displays explain the circularity journey of aluminium, helping visitors understand how material can be recovered, recycled and reused again and again without losing its properties.

Visitors can also get hands-on with TECHNAL's digital tools through a series of large touchscreen displays. From exploring product information and technical resources on the TECHNAL website to navigating TechTip and its library of project support tools, the technology is there to be used, not just viewed.

Bringing these elements together alongside product samples creates a more complete picture of the challenges and opportunities facing modern construction, where sustainability, performance, design and digitalisation increasingly go hand in hand.

For Managing Director Allan Barr, the Engagement Space represents an opportunity to strengthen the relationships and conversations that sit behind successful projects.

Construction has always been a people business. The Engagement Space gives us a place to bring customers, partners and colleagues together to share knowledge, tackle challenges and explore opportunities in a more meaningful way.
Allan Barr, Managing Director, TECHNAL UK & Ireland

Allan believes that creating opportunities for face-to-face collaboration remain just as important as the products and services themselves. As the industry adapts to changing expectations around sustainability, digitalisation and project delivery, having a dedicated space to exchange ideas and expertise can help customers navigate those challenges with confidence.

A space that will keep evolving

The Engagement Space is already playing host to customer visits, training sessions, CPDs and project workshops, and that's only the beginning.

We've designed the space to be flexible because the conversations happening there will always be different. Some visits will focus on technical details, others on innovation, sustainability or future opportunities. The space is built to support all of them.

Most importantly, it's somewhere people can spend time together, share experiences and learn from each other.
