Building for four friends in Barcelona, Spain.

PROJECT BRIEF

The building, with six floors above ground, a basement and a roof terrace with swimming pool, has been conceived from the outset in close relationship with its users. The owners, four couples of friends, organised themselves as a community of neighbours to agree on all the decisions of the project, a habitat that is committed to architectural quality, passive design and sustainability and has an A energy rating.

Architectural Features

The 80 m2 homes have two terraces - one facing the courtyard and the other facing the street - which guarantee cross ventilation. cross ventilation. The living-kitchen-dining rooms are located on the rear façade in direct relation to the building's courtyard. with the courtyard of the building. The living area is extended by the terrace up to the enclosure of the wooden shutters that enclose it. the wooden shutters that delimit it, creating a comfortable "porch" space of light and shade. The façade enclosures have been calculated by optimising the thicknesses and dimensions of the profiles to the maximum, incorporating the latest designs and technical solutions, such as the lower guide system of the LUMEAL XXL sliding systems, which guarantee easy movement of the large and heavy frames. The use of large sliding doors in the living room has made it possible to create a direct link between the interior space of the dining room and the terrace, which is delimited by the system of opening shutters.

The GEODE curtain wall has been installed in the premises, which allows for large-format thicknesses and dimensions with fixed joinery with a minimal front section that incorporates acoustic and thermal barriers to protect from solar radiation.

 All the products are made by Hydro CIRCAL. Hydro CIRCAL is a range of prime quality aluminium made with a minimum of 75% recycled end-of-life aluminium (post-consumer scrap). Hydro CIRCAL also has one of the smallest CO2 footprint worldwide: 2,3 kg CO2 per kilo of aluminium – 4,5 times less than the world global primary average.
