Barcelona (Spain)
HBS International welcomes its customers and
specifiers to the Construmat trade show

A dedicated HBS International team will be present on the Technal stand at the Construmat trade show taking place in Barcelona from may 16 to 20.

Construmat

"We are looking forward to meeting our customers and specifiers, mostly travelling from South America, Central America and North Africa, and to presenting our new brand products to them", states Francis Doutre, Development Manager of HBS International. "The soon-to-be-marketed LUMEAL 3-leaf sliding window and SOLEAL doors and windows are the flagship products that will be on display alongside other products at the Technal stand."

LUMEAL

The LUMEAL sliding system
with concealed opening frame

How much aluminium is left?

With only 77mm of aluminium visible, LUMEAL is the first sliding window with concealed opening frame to offer an attractive line which conceals the aluminium joinery to create more light! Available from june, LUMEAL is an architectural revolution that offers designers a unique solution in the thermal break sliding systems market.

The LUMEAL concealed opening frame concept totally moves away from the traditional sliding pocket window and architects can now create new fixed-sliding combinations. It is therefore possible to produce asymmetrical 1-leaf + fixed frames, with a large section fixed and an opening section the size of a door without increasing the amount of aluminium visible.

LUMEAL can also be used to manufacture large sliding systems, up to L 4.50m x H 3.50m with 2 or 3 rails and up to 250kg per leaf.

Using concealed opening technology, LUMEAL boasts an acoustic performance that far exceeds that of conventional-design sliding windows:
Up to 37dB (Ra, Tr) for a 1-leaf patio door + 1 fixed frame.

LUMEAL may be equipped with a threshold that facilities the movement of mobility-impaired people.

The locking mechanism is integrated in the fixed frame, which helps to delay forcible entry.

In 4 or 6-leaf applications, the 76mm central mullion maintains delicate lines.

Hanoi (Vietnam)
A 3000m² facade manufactured at the workshop

The building is being named "April 30th" to remember the liberation of Saigon on April 30, 1975, which restored peace and reunified Vietnam.

"The principle of the unitized frame facade has already been used in several international projects as it is often the solution that is best adapted to the specified technical and architectural requirements. The unitized frame facade also allows projects to be completed faster and ensures optimum quality as workshop conditions are far better than on-site conditions" explains Cédric Joanne, Project engineer at HBS International. With his team based in Toulouse (France), Cédric Joanne designs technical solutions that correspond exactly to the expectations of a project designer. "Here we have created a solution that uses both single and double glazing by integrating GEODE facade sections in our new Technal unitized frame facade system. Double glazing constitutes 2500mm of the height and single glazing combined with an insulating panel covers 800mm of the top section, which is located in front of the concrete slab."

The Project team has also developed a special anchoring point for the covers located where the frames join, to make them identical to the transom covers. All horizontal facade lines therefore look the same due to ogive-shaped covers that are 190mm deep.

The 3000m² facade of this future office building in Hanoi (Vietnam) will be produced using Technal's GEODE unitized frame facade system.
The seven hundred 1300mm x 3300mm frames are currently being manufactured at the workshop and will be installed when the large structure is complete.

In the Eurowindow workshop. the frames are assembled, fitted with glass and ogive-shaped covers.

The manufacture and installation of this facade are being carried out by the Vietnamese company Eurowindow, an aluminium, wood and PVC joinery manufacturer. Eurowindow has experienced rapid growth since its creation in 2002 and now employs more than 3000 people.

Blue Mall, luxury spanning 100000m²
Blue Mall

Built in St. Marteen – dutch territory of the island of St. Marteen, in the West Indies – the Blue Mall project is an 8-storey building housing a shopping centre covering more than 10000m² and luxury apartments on the top 3 floors.

The building is being constructed by the real estate developer Blue Properties, associated with the Blue Mall retail signboard, which is well known in central america and the caribbean. The project will be completed in October. Angel Gioia, who co-manages the Gioia Group with his brother Luis, is very happy with Technal's input: "we have been able to discover and are very happy with the quality of the sliding systems, windows, rooflight and facade, as much in terms of their design as their thermal performance and anticyclonic resistance. In addition to the products, we have been very impressed with Technal's availability and expertise provided throughout the project."

HBS International has supported the company Tecalu from the initial study phases to create representative cross-sections relating to technical solutions proposed to the architect. Benjamin Fontaine, who was the HBS International Sales Manager for the caribbean region at the time, explains that the challenge was to "create a specific anchoring system for the horizontal trame GEODE facade to meet the constraints of the project. We also trained teams of installers in the implementation of the facade."

This facade, which is used in several areas of the structure to cover a total surface area of approximately 2600m², was manufactured and installed by Tecalu, which also manufactured the TOPAZE casement windows, the GALENE lift-and-slide system and TITANE doors designed for frequent use. Delivered in separate elements manufactured in the workshop, a skylight is installed above the 3-floor atrium around which shops are located.
