HYDRO LAUNCHES ARCHITECTURAL HANDBOOK FOR ALUMINIUM FAÇADES

Hydro Building Systems, Europe’s largest supplier of aluminium building systems which offers the Technal and Wicona brands, has launched a comprehensive design guide to aluminium façades.

The 120-page illustrated handbook looks in detail at the latest technological developments in lightweight façades to help inform architects and specifiers about the diverse options available and the concepts that support the technology.

The guide features a historical summary of the progress from windows to façades, aluminium as a raw material and the extrusion process, different surface treatments, glass options and properties, and types of system constructions.  There is detailed information about specification criteria and technical requirements for the façade, structural loadings, and energy analyses and calculation procedures are concisely explained.

The document also contains a guide to terminology and to European standards, practical advice about the construction of lightweight façades, how to reduce costs without compromising quality and how to define quality, illustrated with case studies of high profile projects from across Europe.

Hydro Building Systems has recently expanded its operations with the launch of a dedicated base in the UK for Wicona Projects, which offers one of the most widely used and technically advanced unitised solutions in Europe.

The Technal brand of façade products continues to increase market share following the move to its purpose-designed headquarters in West Yorkshire, which doubled capacity and offers improved facilities for product development and customer training programmes.

Technal has also recently launched its MX ‘stick’ curtain walling suite – the first in the UK to offer such a wide range of design options from a single grid.  The system has been well received by architects, contractors and fabricators and a number of projects nationwide are now nearing completion.
