TECHNALS RECENTLY LAUNCHED WINDOW AND BALCONY DOOR SYSTEMS SELECTED FOR MAJOR NEW URBAN DEVELOPMENT IN PARK LANE

Aluminium casement windows and balcony doors from Technal’s recently launched FXi suite have been supplied for a major new urban development at one of London’s most prestigious addresses.

Developed by MWB and implemented by RHWL Architects, 140 Park Lane comprises 18 penthouse apartments and a 157-bedroom hotel operated by Marriott International.

As part of the project, an Edwardian Grade II listed mansion block on the corner of Park Lane and Oxford Street was extensively refurbished and a new 7-storey contemporary building has been constructed.

Technal’s FXi side hung windows and balcony doors were selected for the new wing to meet the architect’s requirements for performance, appearance, budget and durability. The system’s 52mm curved profiles closely match the proportions of the original solid timber windows in the adjacent listed building, whilst providing a stylish and modern glazing solution which complements the smooth white stone walls and cantilevered balconies to the external façade.

Fabricated and installed by Architectural Aluminium Systems, the FXi52 windows and doors were finished in grey and double glazed using a 10.8mm clear laminated outer pane for improved acoustics. Technal’s MC curtain walling also features on the new building, enclosing the stairtowers overlooking the internal courtyard and as facetted glazing to the penthouse on the top floor.

The FXi range is a fully integrated casement window suite, developed by Technal to offer specifiers the unrivalled flexibility to deliver enhanced thermal performance in line with the current Building Regulations.

Available in a wide choice of configurations and three module sizes – 46mm, 52mm and 65mm, the FXi system uses a highly efficient flush polyamide thermal break. The system can be inserted into curtain walling or used as punched hole, composite or ribbon window configurations.
