TECHNAL LAUNCHES NEW CURTAIN WALLING SYSTEM FOR STRIKING FLUSH GLASS FAÇADES

Architectural aluminium specialist, Technal, part of Hydro Building Systems, has expanded its range of curtain walling products with the launch of a new structurally glazed façade system.

MX SSG uses the same grid system as the new MX curtain walling suite, simplifying specification and further improving the quality of fabrication and installation, cost efficiency, and reducing time on site.

The system has been developed to provide specifiers with more choice and design flexibility to meet the demands of modern architecture, and the creation of striking, flush glass façades. With the use of structural silicone bonding, the new system will meet architects’ requirements for significantly less visible aluminium.

MX SSG, which complements MX visible grid and MX Trame curtain walling, offers additional aesthetic variety for the building envelope from a single integrated grid system, with the reassurance of excellent thermal performance and superior weatherproofing.

The units are manufactured in controlled factory conditions by an approved bonding specialist for consistent quality and can accommodate 6mm, 28mm or 34mm glazing or 50mm composite insulated panels.

Features include:

  • A patented glass security support at each corner of the carrier frame, which allows a maximum glass weight of 200kg per frame
  • The option of top hung or tilt/turn concealed vents for natural ventilation
  • Available as a flat façade or faceted up to 3°
  • A patented ‘hook and toggle’ system to facilitate installation.

The system has been fully tested to BS EN standards, achieving 2400 Pa for wind resistance, 3600 Pa for safety and 600 Pa for both water tightness and air permeability.

A comprehensive range of coloured polyester powder coated and anodised metallic finishes are available for the new system.
