The latest addition to the curtain walling range from architectural aluminium glazing specialist, Technal, is MX62. This new option for MX Visible Grid curtain walling features a 62mm module, which allows specifiers to accommodate larger dimensions and maximise natural light.

A maximum weight of 600kg per transom can now be specified – compared to up to 400kg for the standard visible grid curtain wall. This enables architects and contractors to achieve even larger sizes of glass to help reduce the reliance on artificial lighting, and meet their sustainability objectives.

MX62 is available in three mullion/transom sizes – 80mm, 140mm and 200mm for further design flexibility, and will accommodate 8mm to 44mm glazing as a flat façade.

Structurally bonded top hung concealed vents can be supplied for 36mm and 42mm glazing, allowing natural ventilation whilst maintaining a frameless appearance to make the sections of the vents indistinguishable from the curtain wall when in a closed position.

There is also the option of steel reinforcements for MX62 to further strengthen the curtain wall and it is fully compatible with Technal’s PXi commercial door system and FXi casement window range.

The MX curtain wall suite is a proven façade solution for the creation of striking, modern buildings and a wide variety of architectural compositions. Developed for enhanced thermal performance, and to meet the visual requirements of architects, MX offers a choice of highly flexible aesthetic options from a single grid, including low to high rise curtain walling, visible grid, structural, beaded, facetted, acoustic and sloped glazing.

The use of the same grid system across the MX suite simplifies specification, fabrication and installation, reduces time on site and ensures consistent site lines and interfaces.

MX Trame is a further design option, which gives specifiers the opportunity to highlight the vertical or horizontal profiles across the building envelope using projecting aerofoil caps.

All the options in the MX range, including MX62, have been rigorously tested to BS EN standards for wind resistance, water tightness and air permeability.
