Architectural aluminium glazing specialist, Technal, has made a new senior staff appointment as part of its continued expansion in the Irish market.
Colin Mahon has joined Technal as Specification Manager in Ireland for the façade system brand.
With more than 25 years’ experience in the construction industry and a strong background in design and engineering, Colin will work closely with architects, consulting engineers and main contractors providing technical support from the earliest stages of a project’s design.
He will advise specifiers on system dimensions, loadings, glass selection, acoustics, thermal performance and compliance with Building Regulations for the full range of Technal’s curtain walling, window and door products.
Because of the growing importance of sustainability in building design, he will also work with environmental consultants, providing technical information on heat gain, glazing specification and the use of photovoltaics.
A qualified civil and structural engineer, Colin’s previous roles have included 16 years spent with Ireland’s largest fabricator of aluminium façades, and five years as a consulting engineer for heavy steel and concrete structures.
Technal continues to increase its market share in Ireland. Over the past three years, sales have more than doubled and are set to increase further following the launch of the new MX curtain walling suite – the first in the UK and Ireland to offer such a wide range of design options from a single grid system.
