Marina Bay Sands in Singapore a complex and imposing site |
Marina Bay Sands is an extensive tourist complex located in Singapore. Its central feature comprises three 200-metre high, 54-floor towers. At the top of these three towers is the Sands Sky Park terrace, similar to an aircraft carrier both in terms of the lines drawn by well-known architect Moshe Safdie and the 12,000sqm surface area large enough to house up to four A380 aeroplanes!

Technal was selected to supply and install 4-sash sliding systems in 2000 hotel rooms, amounting to 25,000sqm surface of sliding systems! The quality of the appearance and mechanical strength of the Saphir sliding system immediately won over the architect, and Technal’s expertise showcased at other major sites in the region, in the Technal South east Asia unity, resulted in the latter being chosen over a number of other leading european, Chinese and Japanese operators.
Considering the pressures of 2000 pascals to which this geographical area is subjected and the size of the sliding systems (4.6m x 2.6m), Technal's design office created special reinforced sections to improve the inertia and increased the size of the rebate from 24 to 31mm.
As the inertia of the terrace connecting the three towers requires a tolerance of + or -25mm in the height of the sliding systems, our experts managed by Jean-Claude Henry, are known how to think up a solution to soften these tolerances.
The Technal sliding systems, were installed by BP Aluminium, based in Singapore, in partnership with Sincere Aluminium in Bruneï.
