Technal is celebrating its 50th birthday! 50 years of commitment to the design and production of construction solutions for tertiary buildings and individual and collective residential buildings. A little look back at the history of a big international company…
In 1960, convinced that aluminium is the material of the future, André Bos creates the company Alusud to design aluminium construction systems. He creates the Technal system – simple and quick to install. It meets with a lot of success and, very quickly, Alusud gets a firm foothold not only in France, but also in Europe, and then expands towards the Mediterranean regions with products suited to their specific climate.
André Bos creates Technal International in 1970 to conquer markets throughout the world:
- The opening of a first depot in Switzerland in the 1970s leads to the creationof Technal Switzerland.
- After opening in the UK in 1979, Technal develops to the rhythm of innovations and in harmony with the market, becoming Technal Limited in 1998.
- Portugal and Spain are also rapidly-growing markets, which will form the basis of the success of Technal Portuguesa in Portugal in 1974, then of Technal Iberica in Spain in 1986.
1986 also sees the creation of Technal Export, which manages licenceholders in Lebanon, South Africa and Ivory Coast.
A joint venture is created to meet the needs of Middle Eastern markets. It exports Technal to the Caribbean, the Indian and Pacific Ocean regions, West Africa, North Africa, Central America, South America and South-East Asia.
Since then, Technal hasn't stopped developing its services and marketing its products through its customers and affiliates:
- In 1995, Technal Building Product in Brunei becomes Hydro Building Systems South East Asia.
- In 1999, Technal establishes itself in China, then creates Hydro Building Systems China.
- In 2000, the joint venture Technal Middle East is created in Bahrain.
- Technal is also present in India, in North Africa (with a commercial agency in Casablanca, Morocco), and in Argentina.
…AND STILL SO MUCH TO DO!
Technal celebrated its 50th birthday in the company of its employees, customers and several prominent figures from the Hydro Group. True to its resolutely forward-looking philosophy, Technal gave a presentation to the press on the architectural solutions of tomorrow that are currently in the research and development process.
